Anton Bitel Sight & Sound for all this thriller's tautness, its true horror emerges from the uncomfortable ethical questions that it poses - and leaves us to answer for ourselves in the dark. Nov 15, 2012 Full Review Mark Olsen Los Angeles Times Long on atmosphere and short on sense, "The Tall Man" becomes less gripping as it grows more ridiculous. Rated: 2/5 Aug 31, 2012 Full Review Kyle Smith New York Post "The Tall Man" spits out enough scares and twists to maintain our interest, but the film's psycho-sociological layer is almost as cheesy and unconvincing as its low-rent action scenes. Rated: 1.5/4 Aug 31, 2012 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Initially intriguing but quickly devolves into an entirely generic and uninspired experience. Rated: 1/5 Sep 24, 2023 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts Trust me the payoff is completely worth it. Rated: 7/10 Jun 2, 2021 Full Review Ed Travis Hollywood Jesus The final reveals of the plot are so ludicrous and poorly told I am a little bit shocked. Biel does a fine job and the film looks like a real movie. It just has a nonsense script at its heart. Mar 31, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Willow C While the plot of this movie is overall quite intriguing, it tends to be too vague for the viewer to follow and often has complex dialogue. The plot is indeed deep and has many twists, but often contradicts itself and doesn’t have one clean timeline. There is no goal that is being achieved in this movie, no ultimate purpose for the story being told other than for it to be heard. The beginning of the movie was intriguing, but quickly I lost interest. It was fun to watch with friends as it was simple-minded and somewhat easy to predict, but otherwise not a good movie. The cinematic shots are pretty decent, the actors do their roles well, but the script and plot is just terrible in my opinion. There’s no real resolution conflict and or journey here. Another additional thing to add: the movie is advertised very much so as a slenderman-type movie. The name is literally ‘tall man’ and the posters you get when looking it up are of a tall, almost warped man with no face(white slender face). This does not apply to the movie AT ALL. (SPOILERS AHEAD) the ‘man’ isn’t that tall. And he’s just some random husband who kidnaps children to then get adopted by city folk in hopes to bring them a better life…there’s NO man who’s particularly tall, and no man with no face. The movie description is incredibly misleading. If you want to watch a slender man movie, this is not it. Adding on about dialogue, the script for the actors was confusing at best, however it wasn’t what irked me the most. What it was for me, was the voiceovers. You could clearly tell that the audio of their voices were just covers of the original voices(maybe for copyright reasons, they didn’t have the rights, or the Canadian accents were so strong that they wanted a United States dub?). Either way, it made the film MUCH less immersive. So, while I do enjoy the complicated plot, it ultimately lacks connection to the viewer and a journey that keeps them engaged. The movie was so confusing I often found myself LITERALLY playing block blast because I found Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/18/25 Full Review Руслан Г Я заснув через 20 хвилин перегляду. Проснувся і вимкнув. Нецікавий фільм. Головна актриса красива. Це єдина гарна новина для глядача Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/19/24 Full Review David W A strange one this. It's not really a horror movie as such and it isn't particularly scary. There is a very interesting ethical point raised via the denouement though. The movie as a whole was good and Biel's performance was excellent. I personally enjoyed this movie, ideological challenges and all. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Nicole L I wouldn't quite call it a horror movie. It's more of a suspenseful thriller. It kept me watching with the few plot twist and wanting to get answers up to the very end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review James D Numerous twists that had me often guessing as to who is doing what to whom. Jessica Biel's performance was superb - I had no idea that she was such a great actress. This is a movie about how a married couple's idea of mercy and social justice becomes unhinged and escalates into sheer terror. Separating children from their mothers through either abortion or kidnapping is never an act of mercy for it leaves behind much sorrow for the victims of the injustice. I wonder if some of this goes on much in real life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/04/23 Full Review sean s This movie had an interesting twist and was worth watching.
