Manuela Lazic Little White Lies In the end, all has been for nothing, and the vampire genre's exciting possibilities have been wasted on a messy script and messier intentions. Jul 4, 2018 Full Review K. Austin Collins The Ringer The Transfiguration is a small movie harboring big ideas about loss and how to make up for it. Aug 10, 2017 Full Review Scott Marks San Diego Reader Trying hard to play against expectations, writer-director Michael O'Shea casts a black teenager in the lead role of an urban vampire film. It's a decision that ultimately works in the film's favor, but only up to a point. Rated: 2/5 May 5, 2017 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Proves you don’t have to completely reinvent vampire mythology to give audiences something fresh that borrows elements of its predecessors, giving horror fans an intimate and tragic coming-of-age tale. Rated: 4/5 May 12, 2023 Full Review Kate Sánchez But Why Tho? A Geek Community The Transfiguration is a slow-burning look at love and loss through they eyes of vampire lore. With a stellar young lead actor in Eric Ruffin, it’s an emotional movie that more people should talk about. Audience Member Sloooooowwwww. Not bad just slow. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review kyle c This is a very unique and interesting movie. I appreciated that there was no "hero" and "villain" exactly, just a lot of characters living their lives. The acting is wonderfully uncomfortable and the gore feels earned rather than gratuitous. The plot itself is engaging, mostly to see how the relationships between all the characters grow and change. Occasionally conflicts felt avoided rather than addressed which was distracting at times, but overall the film does a good job of building tension without feeling forced. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It's actually an interesting approach, very fresh look at vampires. The film spends a lot of time building tension and eventually releases it but there's a lot of time wasted. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I usually feel for the awkward weird kid . But this time it’s on him . He was way too weird. This was a sad coming of age movie for two kids with no parents who also have no friends . The one is full of depressing thoughts the other is obsessed with vampires and blood and horror movies . The chemistry between them was the highlight of the film . I appreciate the realness of the film 2.4 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/20 Full Review Audience Member 'The Transfiguration' offers very mature writing and really lets its actors shine as this coming-of-age drama creates something new for the vampire genre and lets itself really dig into your skin. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member these pretentious user reviews are why humans should all be sucked dry by this weird little boy in this movie which is good by the way Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
