      Critics Consensus

A loud, rote exorcism thriller that presents nothing new to an already overpopulated subgenre.

Robert S An interesting twist on the origin of the antichrist. Unlike Damien Omen which is born as a infant this one begins with a possession. The acting is pretty good the graphics are somewhat believable and the overall storyline would be indicative of a series but sadly at the end is not. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review L1PE Um filme interessante para quem gosta do gênero, sem muito exagero de sangue e violência mas com uma pegada boa de suspense... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Gunn W Boring, slow, and the same type of Exorcist films which they keep making over and over. The only difference is in this movie we get to meet the antichrist, who of course is a young, blond, pretty lady. SKIP IT! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/15/23 Full Review Mateusz C This movie tries to keep the tension hold nonstoply so much that it does make it rather painful to watch than creators had expected Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/27/23 Full Review Lourdes R I love horror movies so they don't scare me but this one actually did. I really loved this movie highly recommend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/18/23 Full Review Mallory Is this a good film? No. But despite that, with some above-average acting and a half decent plot made it easy to watch, and certainly didn't feel like a waste of time. Anton Bitel Sight & Sound this hodgepodge of exorcism and possession clichés... flirt[s] uncomfortably with justifying clerical abuses as just a part of the Church's endless battle against Satan. Nov 25, 2015 Full Review Jonathan Romney Observer (UK) A routine regurgitation of demonology's familiar myths and legends: needless to say, possession is nine tenths of the lore. Rated: 2/5 Nov 1, 2015 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) In terms of characterisation and plotting, the film is utterly absurd, but taken as a fairground ride for the ghoulishly inclined, it just about passes muster. Rated: 2/5 Oct 30, 2015 Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror The Vatican Tapes isn't exactly ground-breaking... but it's a solid, well-written, well-performed, and surprisingly original addition to the over-populated parnanomal/demonic possession/exorcism-themed pantheon. Rated: 7/10 Sep 26, 2019 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X Some of the special effects are cool, but they don't compensate for the surrounding lack of drive.
