Rated: 3/4 Jul 26, 2024 Full Review Kristy Strouse Film Inquiry The Way We Speak is a formidable and ambitious drama that shows the power of words. A rich character study with fantastic performances and sharp dialogue, it’s a must-see for 2024. Sep 12, 2024 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment An effective psychological study of the mind space occupied by a man experiencing several dilemmas while trying to hold onto some ego-driven level of respectability. Rated: 7/10 Aug 7, 2024 Full Review Gissane Sophia Lady Geeks Media Ian Ebright’s The Way We Speak is significant in its means of brutally reminding viewers of why our words matter. It’s outright cruel at times, a little slow, and yet intricately thoughtful in how it chooses character remarks. Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Peter Gray The AU Review A talky, compelling drama that speaks to the power of one’s conviction in their beliefs and, more importantly, respecting another’s differing opinion. Laura Y What struck me, was that for much of this film the characters are debating ideas of God, science, and love. They could continue these conversations forever, the world could change dramatically around them, but people would still be talking about these things. It has a timeless quality, especially when you add in the universal human experience of grief, and how the emotions that move around in our bodies after the loss of a loved one influence how we view these topics. The film itself is beautifully shot, and the writing, especially in the debate scenes, is really impressive. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/12/25 Full Review Audience Member Excellent film. The plot is woven intelligently while also having a constant emotional undertone throughout. I found myself engaged and curious until the very end. I was left contemplating complex topics that challenged my beliefs and opinions, and that feeling persisted long after the credits had rolled. The acting is nuanced and grounded. Each character is unique and is brought to life through truthful performances. They all have a raw feeling of a living, breathing human being. To top it off the cinematography and imagery is rich and vibrant, drawing the eye, but not taking away from the intriguing dialogue taking place. Would definitely recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Za S The performances and clean cinematic construction earn the stars for this movie. The writing and concept are garbage. If you need to feel intellectual without an intellect watch this movie. “Wow” we debate the existence of god. “Wow” the thematic motif of this film parallels the very issue central to the discussion of this film. Boring, unimpressive story with decent storytellers and performers. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/25 Full Review Lynne N Just such a powerful film -- simple, subtle, true. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/23/24 Full Review Christy G A captivating, thoughtful, beautiful film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review be m One of the best written and acted scripts. Everything about this movie felt so real. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
