Lt. Col. Barney Adams (Robert Mitchum) is assigned to defend Lt. Winston (Keenan Wynn), a fellow American officer who murdered a British sergeant while stationed in India during World War II. Though a psychiatrist suggests hospitalization for the psychopathic Winston, Gen. Kempton (Barry Sullivan) pressures Adams to throw the trial as a means of smoothing over strained relations between American and British forces. Conflicted, Adams must disobey orders if he wants to see justice served.

Audience Member An interesting court room drama for the time. Robert Mitchum is underrated as an actor. One of Hollywood's treats. Best thing about it is France Nuyen. I wonder if she did any other movies? I couldn't figure out why Robert Mitchum used a cane in this movie. I guess he must have busted up his leg in real life and they just added it in the show. Anyhow, only watch this if you are doing something else at the same time...
