walter m In "The Woman in Blue," Pierre(Michel Piccoli), a middle-aged musicologist, is found unconscious by his friend Edmond(Michel Aumont) in his apartment. This is a shame because Aurelie(Lea Massari), an actress, is just back from Italy after three weeks which causes Pierre to unceremoniously throw a young woman out of his bed and go the extra mile by going to the local pharmacy to pick up something special for her. It is there that he spots a woman in blue(Marie Lasas) who he becomes obsessed with after he loses her outside. Even while spending time with Aurelie, his attention is focused elsewhere and he goes out again to look for the mystery woman which leads her to throw his jacket and pants out the window when he gets back. The jaunty tone of the search(which is joined by friends) is offset by the dark tone of the classical music playing throughout while Pierre goes in circles around Paris. As the movie takes on more of a symbolic nature, it becomes clear that Pierre has little idea who or what he is looking for in his life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
