OK Jerome Kern musical, with some well done Vincente Minnelli musical numbers added to the mix. Go to Full Review

Star-packed MGM musical is more about Jerome Kern's music than Kern himself. Go to Full Review

MGM's bland musical biopics about Kern distorts basic facts, and lacks energy and imagination; the only good sequences feature Judy Garland and are staged by then husband Vincente Minnelli. Go to Full Review

Madam D Mar 8 Fictional plot about a great song writer, with the only saving grace being snippets of his music. See more Nora G Jan 28 Jerome Kern songs performed by the best and brightest singers in Hollywood. The first part is about Jerome Kern. It's a bit clunky. Then the singers arrive. Each sings a song and it's a great combination of voice and tune. See more Liam D @Mediawatcher2003 09/03/2024 One of the first Hollywood biopics which left the bread crumbs of future ones to come. It does have a starry cast See more Vincent B 03/17/2024 Too many violins in the sound track. so typical of MGM. dumb story, a a great disservice to the composer whose songs are absolutely top drawer. Luckily we get to see them performed by and array of MGM players. Not all of them successful in their attempts. If you want to see interesting colors and costumes here's some good music go right ahead just go out to use the restroom during Robert Walker's moments. What a shame what a waste of his talent. See more Steve D 06/05/2023 This kind of thing has been done to death and better. See more 08/31/2019 Unfortunately 'Till the Clouds Roll By' is lacklustre in the story department relying too heavily on its lavish musical numbers to get by. This hodgepodge of directors provides a very mixed and uneven film where the use of multiple directs is evident. One star with Judy Garland as this films only saving grace. 'Look for the Silver Lining' is a classically beautiful number See more Read all reviews
