In 1971, the late Belgian cartoonist Hergé sat for a four-day interview with student Numa Sadoul. This documentary uses the original tapes and interviews with fans to analyze Hergé's life and work. Born Remy Girard in 1907, Hergé becomes famous for creating Tintin, the cartoon journalist whose adventures last nearly 40 years. Becoming interested in right-wing politics under the influence of religious mentor Norbert Wallez, Hergé is accused of being a Nazi collaborator after World War II ends.

Audience Member The very passionate & insightful Documentary on the creation of Tin Tin & the influences he had to create the books he did. Herge did a lot in his time on the earth weather it was Belgium or abroad & its really reflected in his comics. It's extraordinary how much of his own experiences & feelings he put into Tin Tin. If you can track down an English speaking copy of this Documentary grab it since the narrator speaks French...Fast!
