Alas, good Hitchcock touches no longer make a good Hitchcock film, and Curtain falls, more redolent of mothballs than mystery. Go to Full Review

The chase is just cat and mouse with a clawiess cat. Not, of course, that Hitchcock's own claws are quite sheathed. Go to Full Review

Coming on the heels of Marnie, ostensibly a film about Hitchcock's own desire to possess and ravage Tippi Hedren, (it) feels especially toothless, as if (he) was somehow exhausted from the film that might have (been) his ultimate cinematic exorcism. Go to Full Review

Having seen it now, I realize that it is a dull and rather pathetic political thriller in which Hitchcock predictably fiddles with the clichés of the spy formula without any surprise. Full review in Spanish Go to Full Review

It certainly deserves an honourable place among his second-division works, like Strangers on the Train. Go to Full Review

Blake- N @PBSAniDom 12h I went into Torn Curtain expecting a classic Hitchcock experience, mainly out of curiosity about how it would compare to his more celebrated works. It ended up being a fairly mixed but still watchable film overall. The pacing was the most noticeable aspect for me. At times it felt a bit uneven, with certain sections moving slower than I expected, but it never completely lost my attention. There are moments where it builds tension effectively, even if it doesn’t always maintain that momentum consistently throughout. It’s not the worst Hitchcock film by any means, but it also doesn’t reach the heights of his best work. I’d call it a decent entry in his filmography—interesting in parts, but somewhat restrained in impact. Overall, I’d give Torn Curtain a 6/10. We in the States aren't quite there yet, but if you look at Hungary, Turkey, Iran, Russia, Myanmar and China today you might have a better sense of the overbearing background that Hitchcock was able to employ for this movie. I took a long time to view this movie as the critics were always luke-warm towards it, but along with Frenzy, i believe these two movies are extremely under-rated and will be reassessed by movie critics in the future. Sgt. Pepper nowadays sounds quite dated, but this movie actually holds up well to our current times. See more Rafi แก้ว M @RT61647557 Oct 27 For once, a really bad Hitchcock movie. Julie Andrews as a spy behind the Iron Curtain? Really? Paul Newman is also completely unconvincing, seeming to have just walked onto the set with no idea what's going on. The relationship between the two is flat and lifeless, and the drab Cold War settings add to the boredom. The 'tension' seems so contrived and predictable, and it's hard to count all of the plot holes. Great actors and directors don't always guarantee a good product. Don't waste your time. See more Dennis H @RT26939577 Oct 23 A lesser Hitchcock outing. A little long with pacing that makes it seem longer. The script is a bit thin. Our hero is a bit dumb. There isn't much tension. It is, however, Hitchcock and so there are things to see and enjoy. See more Martin B @RT44235356 Jul 23 He writes the symbol for pi in the ground and neither he nor the woman think to brush it out? This movie sure didn't prove Hitchcock a genius it's ham handed and clunky. A series of scenes that get them to the end but do not flow together in any coordinated way. - See more Dani G @RT81139271 Jun 16 Dissapointing. Maybe it's one of those cases where the movie doesn't age well. Also, the more time goes by, the more outdated Hitchock feels See more Read all reviews
