Jude Dry indieWire [Kate] Davis has created a deeply moving portrait of a woman whose life is turned upside down by callous police brutality and racism. Audience Member An Oscar-nominated documentary short that’s even more timely in 2020. Not as in depth as I would’ve liked (it is a half hour short), but still raises a lot of questions about police brutality and race relations. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/20 Full Review Audience Member This documentary drives me crazy. She was completely in the wrong and to paint her a victim is insane to me. I'm a white male and if I'd done what she did I would have been treated the same. I resisted arrest once and (spoiler alert) I got slammed to the ground. There was no racism here. Just a drama queen. She does seem to be a wonderful teacher, though! I'm all for defunding the police, but this doc is bull. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member The world watches and says: “yep, no doubt she’s clearly a pain in the ass and clearly resisting arrest”.... All the critics commending her obviously bad behaviors, and suggesting racial motives, should be ashamed of themselves. The WORST part is that this woman is a teacher—likely filling her students’ heads with her unjustified grievance nonsense. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/25/20 Full Review Audience Member This is a total propaganda film to gather more sympathy for her (just) cause. She was definitely mistreated and abused by Officer Richter (who has since been fired after he stepped on someone's face during an arrest). Since the film came out, Breaion reached a settlement with the city for $425,000. Everything else is back to normal in her life. The thing I didn't like about the video is that it's totally one-sided and doesn't at all address her actions/statements during the arrest. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This portrays her as a victim. If she would have complied with the officers request to put her legs in the car so the door could be closed. This story would have been a non starter. This is a sad attempt to keep racism alive in this country. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member What happened to her was wrong, but she does not make for a very sympathetic documentary subject.
