Kristy Puchko Pajiba Like Penn and Teller showing the secrets to their tricks, Moving Parts doesn't strip away the magic. It makes you marvel at the mastery of the craft behind it. May 1, 2019 Full Review David Reddish Queerty Its a must for Trixie fans as well as anyone who appreciates the struggle for art. Rated: 3/4 Mar 20, 2022 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix A lot of people might think that a documentary about a drag queen would have a lot of histrionics from the star of the movie. But Trixie does not fall into the stereotype of being a hysterical drama queen. Jul 12, 2020 Full Review Rafaela Sales Ross Film Inquiry Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts is a raw, at times agonizing portrait of the contemporary reality show celebrity and the consequential disconnection it creates between person and persona. May 4, 2020 Full Review Brett White Decider This is an essential watch for everyone that loves docs that explore the creative process and, honestly, the struggle of being a person on Earth. Dec 10, 2019 Full Review Matt Shiverdecker Austin American-Statesman "Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts" filters the drag queen's occasionally twisted comedy through a lens of pure honesty and melancholy. It will satisfy existing Trixie Mattel fans while also serving as a solid introduction for any latecomers. Aug 28, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Just quiet and heartbreaking and so intimate. Beautiful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A must watch for any Drag Race fan. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member It is a look behind the curtain of a famous drag queen, but I found myself on the fence about Trixie after watching it. The documentary never really accomplishes much in the long run but exposes the Drag Race Show on how the finale was filmed as well as paints the Trixie in a more negative light than an inspiring figure or someone to root for Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an amazing look into the world of Trixie Mattel... Funny, heart warming and a raw look behind the scenes to one of the best Drag Queens out there! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Trixie has a unique talent of cushioning raw storytelling with lightning quick wit, meaning most of the time you're sat there half teared up while you roar with laughter. It's a compelling docufilm of comedy, tragedy and success, in their many life forms. I only intended to watch the first 30 minutes before bed and ended up watching the whole thing. It's wonderful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Earnest and touching throughout, Moving Parts is a film that will most certainly satisfy fans, but will likely surprise and entertain even a casual viewer. It's musings on addiction, fame, friendship, abuse, and ultimately a trajectory to happiness ground this documentary with a sense of purpose, while Trixie's signature brand of humor, and the behind the scenes candor of her fellow drag contemporaries lend a levity and occasional sardonic wit to the endeavor which we've come to expect from our best drag entertainers. Trixie is the wizard of Oz, even when the curtain is pulled back to reveal the real identity, it turns out the advice is just as good, if not better, blemishes and all.
