Patrick C Glad I gave this one a chance. I love this sort of story where it's just 2-3 characters stuck in one place. I was very tense throughout the whole movie. Only complaint is the ending was confusing. Still though, the acting was good, the plot was very twisty and turny, really fun idea for a story like Misery in reverse. Also the movie is more violent than you may expect if you're patient. It really takes a wild turn in the second half that you will enjoy if you just let go and strap in. Disturbingness-3/10 Violence/gore-5/10 Jump scares-3/10 Tension/suspense-9/10 Creepiness/Atmosphere-2/10 Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/06/23 Full Review william d Delightfully scary and weird, with numerous twists that will keep you guessing to the end. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member this was very good; much better than i was expecting it to be, for sure. there's a couple fun twists at the end which i appreciated. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Well where do I start??...I seen the trailer and thought it looked pretty interesting and I said why not watch it. My husband & I watched thinking it would be cheesy like most horror movies now a days. But guess what there's a freaking development not only in the movie, but with our eyes glued to the screen we were enjoying every minute of this damn movie. You have to watch it to understand the amazement I had to this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Great twist! Kept me thinking / wondering the whole time! Dolores Quintana Dolores Quintana TRUE FICTION is sewn together from the pieces of a lot of other horror films and the surgery wasn’t very successful. Dec 28, 2022 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat Even if you are sick to death of twists in your horror movies, stick with True Fiction; I guarantee it will surprise you. Rated: 9/10 Apr 1, 2020 Full Review Chris Knight National Post Croft frames the story with slowing creeping camerawork, and Garcia does a great job of gradually going from dumbstruck to vengeful. Rated: 3/5 Mar 5, 2020 Full Review Sara Clements Daily Dead True Fiction is incredibly true to its title, as writer/director Braden Croft blurs the line between what's real and what's not, for both the film's protagonist and the audience, creating an interesting, but an often confusing mind game. Rated: 3/5 Mar 2, 2020 Full Review Kat Hughes THN With echoes of The Shining and Misery, Braden Croft has created an intriguing plot and atmospheric tale that Stephen King himself would be proud of. Rated: 4/5 Aug 28, 2019 Full Review Anton Bitel SciFiNow Pitched somewhere between Peeping Tom (1960) and Misery (1990), True Fiction is a tense and twisty near two-hander that carefully negotiates the convoluted connections between authorship and imposture in any work of make-believe.
