There were long stretches of time when there was nothing scary at all. I liked how this movie had a moral/lesson learned at the end. It was about a boy who was greedy. He grew into a man, and could not stop thinking about gold. As a child, his mother kept feeding an old hag locked in a basement in hopes that she would tell them where the gold was. He came back, burned her like she asked, and found out where the gold was. She was cursed for eternity so he had to burn her to free her. The greedy man went often into the "goddess's womb" and it looked like flesh inside, living and breathing creature. He brought a baked gingerbread man that he would feed to a devil-like creature. Then he would steal coins from the devil's bag. He made circles on the ground with flour and apparently that gave him some protection. It was a risky journey each time though. He had a son with his wife, and trained his son to join him and help him as he grew older and weaker. He actually had a gold stash hidden away, but he was so greedy that he kept going back. One time, a friend followed him because the friend also was greedy, but the friend died inside the womb and was burned. The trained son had an idea to feed multiple gingerbread men to the devil, and said that they could keep tossing the food while they stole the Devil's entire bag of gold. So the dad and son brought lots of food, but then attracted multiple devils. They were outnumbered and the dad strapped all the food to himself to sacrifice himself. He led the devils to one of the circles and they got killed. The son crawled out of the womb. He saw his dad as a monster. The dad offered him an entire bag of gold that he managed to steal, but the son cried and shook his head. He ended up having to burn his dad. Then he left and probably never went back.
