Owen Gleiberman Variety “Turtles All the Way Down” makes Aza’s OCD just specific enough to draw us in, then deals with it in a way that’s just manipulative and sugar-coated enough to leave us thinking, “Yep, it’s another YA movie.” May 6, 2024 Full Review Peyton Robinson RogerEbert.com It’s a charming, delightful YA romance that doesn’t bind itself to the sole enjoyment of its target market. Rated: 3/4 May 5, 2024 Full Review Natalia Winkelman New York Times “Turtles,” to its credit, never locates a specious source of Aza’s troubles, nor does it try to unveil a solution to her suffering. May 2, 2024 Full Review Branyan Towe Loud and Clear Reviews Turtles All the Way Down is not the best John Green novel adaptation, but it is not the worst either. A lot of care seems to have been put into it by the director, writers, and cast even if the narrative has issues here and there. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 29, 2024 Full Review Lee Zumpe Tampa Bay Newspapers The film is an erratic hodgepodge that manages to incorporate a budding romance, drama with friends and family, and a missing-person mystery. Jun 15, 2024 Full Review Lissete Lanuza Sáenz Remezcla Turtles All the Way Down, the new movie based on John Green’s best-selling book by the same name, is a raw and honest look at how hard being a teenager while trying to deal with mental health issues can be. Isaac Ernest S Great film. Amazing acting from Isabella Mercedes. This film made me felt emotional, I have to admit I wasn't satisfied about the ending, but all in all it was a great film. Definitely recommend it. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/24 Full Review Audience Member A little cheesy and dramatic, where it very clearly has a target audience. Still enjoyable and anyone with anxiety could probably relate. Good movie, just not meant for me. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/06/24 Full Review elgan r I love this movie anymore and the moral lesson that I learned about Aza Holmes: We are stronger when we share our struggles with others.🥹❤️🍿 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/19/24 Full Review Austin S “We’re about to live the American dream; benefiting off someone’s misfortune.” A genuinely endearing, self aware, emotionally affecting, relatable, meta-realistic love story. As someone with OCD, this resonated on a deeply personal level. I appreciate the writing & dialogue so much. It came across naturally and painted a portrait with some cliches, but no cheap tricks. The performances, especially Isabela Merced’s, were beautifully done. My emotional scale was in the balance with every line, mannerism, and facial cue. The visual representation of OCD through the character of Ava was on the nose without being over the top. It can be aggressively debilitating at times. I came across this just scrolling on MAX. I hadn’t heard of it before but decided to give it a shot. Whoever made that decision, I’m glad they did. P.s. When she sees the spiral painting for the first time & without saying anything, her reaction told me everything. 🥺 P.s.s. Star Wars fan non-fiction Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/13/24 Full Review Greg G Personally, I really enjoyed this. I think it was Isabela Merced’s best performance to date! There some cringey moments, and some quite hard to watch moments but overall it was pretty good.
