I appreciate the effort, but the ways in which it strives and ultimately fails make it an odd little film to consider. Go to Full Review

There are pieces of a decent movie in Twisted, but it’s cobbled together in such a messy and disruptive manner. Sweeping tonal and perspective shifts create an unnatural atmosphere that attempts to do too much with too little. Go to Full Review

Lauren LaVera and Djimon Hounsou excel in Darren Lynn Bousman's competent genre-bending horror. Go to Full Review

Consistently stylish and distinct in a genre that so often defaults to familiarity. Go to Full Review

TWISTED is a new horror-thriller from Darren Lynn Bousman, who still seems to believe he’s making a SAW movie. He certainly uses the exact same shots and cuts as he did for those. Other than that, the storyline and pacing are quite... Go to Full Review

Joe K. @citysc314 23h It was decent. Glad I didn’t pay theatre money for it. See more Aydan S. 2d Im very conflicted about this movie. There any many things I love about it. But also some major things that I really hate. To start with the positives, Lauren Lavera is phenomenal. Djimon Hounsou is also brilliant. Their acting does a lot of heavy lifting for this movie snd the subpar dialogue written for them. The concept is a solid one, and I was genuinely interested in what was going to happen next. There are also a few really cool shots in the movie. The negatives did hurt the overall experience however. Those would include some of, if not the worst editing I have ever seen in a movie. Tons of weird cuts to different angles of the same person that dont make any sense. A cheap fake out cut where the main character stabs someone, along with more. I also really despise the soundtrack. It does not fit with the tone of the movie. The soundtrack sounds like it belongs in a 2008 hallmark movie. Those are my main 2 complaints but they are significant enough to really hurt the movie overall in my opinion. Its still worth checking out if your a fan of these types of movies. Just dont expect it to leave any sort of lasting impression on you. See more Angelo P. @Darksev92 5d “Twisted” is a medical torture horror thriller that is fueled by its gore and great performance by Djimon Hounsou. The film tells the story of two con artists lovers who scam people into renting out places that are not available and when they use the wrong person’s place as their scam, they become a part of a mad doctor’s experiment to bring his brain dead wife back to perfect health. Now this film has a decent plot and several scenes of gore plus Lauren LaVera plays her character in a way that makes you as audience member be happy that her character is going the horrific turmoil that she goes through in the film. Plus Djimon plays the mad doctor character very well and I loved how his personality would change between calmness and deranged. The problem I have with the film is the pacing and it fluctuates too much in its intensity and doesn’t stay in one speed. I also felt that the way it was shot, felt more like a crime tv show than a movie. Plus the third act and reveal of what the doctor character trying to accomplish felt too much like rip off of the motives that happened in Get Out. But those were my major criticisms with the film. I also will say that I enjoyed the shocking twist in the final five minutes of the film as it definitely worked for the tone of the film. So I recommend this torture horror that stars Djimon Hounsou, Lauren LaVera, Gina Philips, Neal McDonough and Hip-Hop artist Prof. See more Dennis B 5d Ridiculous on all levels See more Angel D @pikapikachu1989 6d *Twisted* pulled me in Lauren LaVera’s performance was incredibly powerful. Her character wasn’t just strong — she was brave in a way that felt real. Watching her stand in her truth, even when it was scary, made me emotional. She represented the kind of strength that doesn’t come from being fearless, but from choosing to be yourself anyway. After watching Lauren’s interview, it connected even deeper. She said she wished she could be friends with her character so she wouldn’t be afraid to be herself — and that broke my heart in the most beautiful way, because I felt the same. I wish I had that kind of courage too. Seeing that reflection, both in the character and in Lauren herself, made the film feel deeply personal. Lauren LaVera continues to prove she’s a force in this generation of horror and thrillers a true scream queen in the making. Twisted isn’t just a movie it’s an experience that made me feel seen, and that’s something I won’t forget See more Lovell T @Lovell 6d The plot is messy and the actings are uneven throughout, but with its retro neo-noir style and gore, it nonetheless is an interesting watch.
