What to Know

Critics Consensus

As a romantic comedy, Two Can Play That Game is more mean-spirited than romantic. Also, some critics say the movie is misogynistic in its attitudes and has too many blatant product placements.

Arrogant, manipulative, smug, and overflowing with bad advice, she's meant to be a role model for women with man troubles everywhere. StephenPaul C LOL, the funniest 1.5 hours ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated R for Sexual Dialogue and Strong Language!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ages 17 and older!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Co-starring Anthony Anderson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/24/23 Full Review Kevin C The only reason why this movie. Did not receive a better review, from othe "official " film reviewers, is because it's a damn good non-white romantic comedy, where there is is no guns , drugs Or violence. We can't have that .NOW CAN WE. This is a great romantic comedy. I enjoyed every minute of it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review jordan m It's mildly surprising that most of the cast & crew from The Brothers was involved in this movie as I hated that other one and thought this one was actually quite good. The two share themes like having most of the black characters be successful & attractive (always great to see) but this one pulls it off much better by not having it come off as the humblebragging footnotes to a bunch of guys who look and act as though they've never faced real hardship. In this movie the successful characters are celebrated & bragged upon in a much more realistic way. They also feature very attractive people having romantic difficulty but in this case they don't imply that the characters' love lives are over if they don't work things out with the intended girl. They also put a lot more effort into comedic relief, adding high quality comedic actors for both sides. The movie isn't perfect as the lengths that Vivica goes to punish her man veer into the unreasonable & they didn't spend enough time building the romance for me to feel invested in seeing them get back together, but for a basic rom-com they really did a good job here. Not easy to do and still make the story succeed, but it works here. Duration/Tempo: (4/5) At 1 hour and 30 minutes, it's a very short film that felt about the same. Cast & Crew: (4/5) Vivica A. Fox was outstanding. Morris Chestnut and Anthony Anderson were solid. Summary: (4/5) The story and cast were very good and the film felt short. A thumbs up.
