Adam Graham Detroit News Two Distant Strangers is one of 2020's most powerful films, period - full length or otherwise - and needs to be seen by as large an audience as possible. May 10, 2021 Full Review John Doyle Globe and Mail Unsubtle but beautifully done, this 32-minute drama sticks with you more than most nominated full-length movies. Apr 28, 2021 Full Review Cate Young Thirty, Flirty + Film With a little more thought and a little less reliance on the assumption of shared politics, this perfectly fine film might have been great. Nov 6, 2021 Full Review Michael Dequina TheMovieReport.com Inspired, insightful, and uniquely impactful in making its provocative -- and most necessary -- point. Oct 30, 2021 Full Review Diego Batlle Otroscines.com The film can be seen as a somewhat obvious and manipulative film (they will be right), but also as a quite creative one when it comes to constructing a powerful essay about the heartbreaking consequences of systemic racism. [Full Review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 Jun 15, 2021 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL The film is made with intelligence and wit, and it's well worth the (short) time it takes to watch. Bill W I thought it was great. It sure does stir up emotions in people reading all the bad reviews. Just because you didn't like the ending doesn't mean it's a bad film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/02/24 Full Review Natalie M Slow in the first part but then about 25mins in I go "wow this is great they are all getting along we can get out of this mess, with a nice little allegory about how things are but then if we put things aside and talk to resolve the issue we can sort it out and have a dialogue" … then they take a dump on it ruining it for me. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/09/23 Full Review Eddie M Powerful but unresolved in the end which I guess is the point Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/09/23 Full Review Keegan Stolp O This short film played to the strengths of a short film, filling every moment with context. The film tells a story of the systemic oppression of a group of people by using cyclic agony of a single person as an emotional anchor-point, borrowing elements of absurdism popularly referred to in the 1993 Groundhog Day. The film did well as a short film to get a message across without allowing the audience an opportunity to lose focus of the central message of the film, to "miss the forest for the trees" so to speak. The film appears to tackle the topic of an oppressed people, who are told that they are at fault for their own oppression, and that if they change their attitudes, then their lives will improve, despite overwhelming evidence suggesting the contrary. The film attempts to disillusion the audience, to tell a story for a people who are not given an opportunity to tell it themselves, and from where I stand, it is effective in doing so, but only if the watcher is willing to listen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Michael W This short film makes it look like black people cant learn or something. Why does it take so many times for him to realize that he's approaching the situation all wrong? Disrespect and stupidity don't get you anywhere, regardless of race Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review Michael M This film was nothing more than a film to prop up the liberal narrative to George Floyd. The film plays a racist white cop who picks on black people for no motive. In George Floyds case, he was caught attempting to steal goods using counterfeit money before refusing to comply and ultimately suffering from a drug overdose or the hands of the officer of which was never confirmed to the public.
