Audience Member A Indian Hindi film about a middle-class math teacher who is trying to provide for his family by buying a car. This film is spoken in Hindi, so anyone outside the native language will have to rely on subtitles. The movie is narrated by the daughter character, which I found unusual since the main character is the father. The first third of the movie was difficult to watch as many of the characters were just mean. Perhaps it was a cultural barrier that prevented me from appreciating the humor. I did notice a few jokes that might have been funny if the timing wasn't thrown off by me reading the subtitles. The last half of this film, during which the characters arcs start completing, is where this movie shines. I even found myself getting emotional about the beats about teaching, mostly because I teach as well. If they had set up the main character as a better teacher from the beginning (His classroom management skills were shown lacking), then the ending might have had a bigger impact. This might not be a movie for everyone, but I think it is worth your time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review yash b "Do Dooni Chaar" is a light, harmless, and clean family drama that is fairly entertaining. While watching the movie, I couldn't help but feel that the storylines might have been better suited for a sitcom. In a movie format, the movie can feel a bit unfocused at times, but it moves quickly and is still enjoyable. The movie has funny and sweet moments that aren't meant to be offensive in any way and an overall strong theme. In the end, it is a movie that I was pleased by, and am glad I decided to check out. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review r 9 The first film of Disney's venture into India. It's a solid debut. 'Do Dooni Chaar' features a fairly amusing, hearty and largely enjoyable premise. It's pretty much a social commentary on teaching and life on a budget. I don't think it nails the mix of seriousness and fun incredibly, but there's no doubt it still connects on a good level. Rishi Kapoor is suitably entertaining in the lead role of Santosh, he is easily the star of this film. His real life wife Neetu Singh (Kusum), Aditi Vasudev (Payal) and Archit Krishna (Sandy) play his family members well. It's a decent cast. The ending is a little questionable in its execution, though I get what they were attempting to do with it. The pacing isn't perfect either. Still, thanks to its message and heart, it's a production I had a positive time watching. Mid range Disney. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Comedy with characters verging on the silly, the story is in that area too.
