Suprateek A After waiting for so long I finally watched my first Anurag Kashyap film( well I'm not counting his latest films) and here is my take. This film made me question my beliefs on humanity and the law, that's how dark it was. I still can't fathome the fact that this was an Indian film. This film is a fricking masterpiece man. That scene at the police station during the initial minutes of the film gave me so much anxiety. It felt like something Tarantino would write and as a fan of QT I absolutely loved it. The writing is just brilliant and all the characters were so well explored that I just love it. I can't think of a single positive character and the way everyone is grey is just so amazing. Some of the revelations shocked me to an extent where I couldn't help but chuckle in disbelief. Ugly has managed to explore the human psyche on such a deep and disturbing level that it will haunt you forever. Coming to the performances, I don't t think I can pick a favourite from the bunch because I absolutely loved all the performances. Every single actor was able to give their respective characters the much needed nuance and I just love it. Coming to the climax, I don't think I have ever seen a climax this dark and it was just so un settling that even talking about it isn't easy at all. This entire film made me question Kashyap's sanity because my god how sadistic do you have to be to write a film like this. To conclude I would say that this film is just simply amazing and terrifying at the same time, and I hope the director makes his comeback!
