A bourgeois family -- including domineering matriarch Madame Menard (Claire Maurier), rebellious daughter Betty (Agnès Jaoui), unambitious son Henri (Jean-Pierre Bacri) and his financially successful yet perpetually nervous brother, Philippe (Wladimir Yordanoff) -- assemble at a restaurant to celebrate the birthday of Yolande (Catherine Frot), Philippe's timid wife. As the evening wears on, bitter sibling rivalries and decades-long grudges and slowly reveal themselves.

05/08/2016 Un huis-clos parfait. Tout est dans les savoureux dialogues et le jeu des acteurs. L'amour fraternel est bien souvent un mirage. Un air de famille en explore et démontre toutes les frustrations cachés sous les apparences... See more 12/27/2015 One of the pitfalls of just about any lengthy relationship is the sense that you've heard it all before. Another are the unspoken, barely hidden judgements that people form of others. You get both of these in this film. It would be a real drag if it weren't for the little funny parts in the dialogue. There are some great lines. The only downside is that some of the characters feel a bit underexplored. Kept in the same environment, you don't really get much of a feel for what any of them like in any great way. But then, that's exactly what these kinds of situations force upon us all.
