Noel Murray AV Club The movie's both haunting and honest, confronting what it's like to see the community that sustains you die right in front of your eyes. Dec 14, 2017 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times Where another filmmaker might have revelled in Uncertain's poverty and crime statistics, these directors find the sweetness in the saltiest of subjects and majesty in infested waters. Rated: 4/5 Mar 17, 2017 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The most interesting of them by far is Wayne... the filmmakers follow him on numerous midnight expeditions to take down a giant beast called Mister Ed, but the real night terror turns out to be Wayne's remorse for the crimes he's committed. Mar 16, 2017 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie It's not just the three subjects that make Uncertain such a wonderful documentary. McNicol and Sandilands find a way to, on a greater scale, give an incredible sense of what it's like to live. Rated: 8/10 Jun 3, 2019 Full Review Alexa Dalby Dog and Wolf Its achievement is to make you care about these lives and the struggles of a small community on the brink of extinction in a nowhere place that at first seems to be so remote and so alien. Rated: 4/5 Nov 19, 2018 Full Review Amanda Carnac HeyUGuys Although the film has a bitter, melancholy feel to it, the narrative reaches a satisfying conclusion and all three men show how powerful hope can be. Audience Member Love watching documentaries as such. Learning about diversity of life that is nowadays less heard of and sadly more presumed that situates in some dark corners of America. Very educational and a movie equivalent to life exploration. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review greg r Didn't love this near as much as the critics. The filmmakers could have told much more of the story and chose not to. A lot of symbolism. A lot of beautiful filming. In the end, not a whole lot of story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautifully crafted, true tales of humans, living in a world that changes... continuously. An amazing documentary. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Saw this movie last night at its Texas premiere in New Braunfels. It was so compelling that I wanted to see more! One of the 3 stars of this documentary was present, so Wayne Smith did a Q&A session after the showing, that was so awesome because people got to ask questions about his life experiences shown in this movie. There were folks who drove in from towns all around Texas, some had family ties to Uncertain, Texas and some were friends and family of the star. This experience is one I won't soon forget, and I thought this flick was so good, I want to watch it again! Or a sequel, perhaps?? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Fantastic, though sometimes unfocussed, portrait of an unusual town. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
