Steve D Nowhere near as amusing as it should be. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/13/23 Full Review Jim B My wife and I both think this is the most hilarious movie we have ever seen. Definitely campy and a bit over the top but if you like that kind of thing I think you would enjoy the ride. I am not a big movie person and rarely watch anything more than once but this one is on the short list of films I enjoy watching over and over again. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review Michael M Genuinely one of the funniest movies I've seen. And it held up great considering how old it is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/19/23 Full Review Jennifer M I know this is, objectively, a terrible movie - but I absolutely adore it and re-watch it every few months. I have the entire dialogue memorized. It ranks #2 on my all time favorite movies list, right behind Princess Bride. Yeah, I'm aware that I'm a weirdo. The leads (Quaid and Turner) are charming and have great chemistry, and they pull off the cheesy, over-the-top ridiculousness perfectly. But the real star of the show has to be Tucci's "Muerte". I've seen Tucci shine in so many different roles (gotta watch him in Midsummer Night's Dream if you haven't seen that one yet) but he is just priceless as Morty!! Good supporting work from Babatunde and Miller as the NOPD cops, completely goofy and clichéd. Several other familiar faces appear in the cast and round it out nicely. Love the French Quarter backdrops and music. Don't bother trying to follow the details of the plot, it's a hot mess, just sip some cafe au lait and enjoy the ride. I would tell you to go watch this one right now but good luck finding it on any of the streaming services. I own it on VHS, DVD, and BluRay, but have yet to track it down digitally. This is the kind of movie you find in the clearance bin of obscure DVDs. And when you've seen it, you'll either thank me for the laughs or hate me for that hour and a half of your life you'll never get back ;) Kill the lights. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/31/22 Full Review Stephen C LOL, the funniest 01 hour: and 29 minutes ever!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/28/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie has absolutely no meaningful social significance and say nothing about the evils of our society. It's just a wonderfully funny movie that will make you laugh out loud. Everyone's performances are intentionally over the top. Tucci's Muerte is a gem of a performance. If you just want to escape from reality for an hour and a half with a lightweight feel-good movie, this is the film for you. Vincent Canby New York Times The movie has enough style to make you overlook reason and the occasionally erratic continuity.
