Johnny (Gilles Renaud), who took the fall for a Montreal bank robbery while the rest of the gang got away, receives a 36-hour furlough from prison. Consumed with revenge, Johnny hires a cab driven by French immigrant Michel (Jean Yanne) to prowl the city streets as he searches for Steve (Michel Forget), the robbery's ringleader, whom he intends to murder.
