Altia G Cute artstyle, great family movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The greatest 01 hour: and 29 minutes ever of Japanimation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie when I was a toddler and my toddler girl is now a huge fan. It's a bittersweet story with some scary parts, and the storyline with the kitty and the old lady makes me cry every time! Thanks to this movie I discovered Osamu Tezuka and become fascinated with the Japanese kokoro. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Watched this movie a million times growing up and finally found it and the other two as an adult... under the guise of them being for HER, but with such nostalgia of my own I gave read, searched, and watched all things Unicorn countless times since. My neice now has a huge love for all things unicorn, but especially Unico. I realized a little while ago that part of why I fell in love with my kitten is how much he reminds me of Unico in looks and personality, the absolute sweetest baby animal in existence and though gray instead of pink/purple on top, he is exactly the same shape, fluff, and markings...and those wide innocent eyes. Thought long and hard about his name, Mouse-as he was extremely tiny until about 5 months old (we're talking the size of a baby 1/3 that age) and so delicate quiet and sweet -he fit in and loved being carried around in my shirt and still has never hissed growled or fought beyond fun wrestling, not a violent hone in his body. I now think his name should've been Unico, it just never occurred to me when he was named though it wasn't far removed in time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I used to watch this cartoon over and over when i was a kid. Brings back fond memories. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautifully mature, yet accessible to all forgotten animated gem. Unico is a unicorn who has the ability to make anyone he meets happy. This would be all well and good, but the jealous gods believe only they should hold such a power, and so they order Unico to be banished by the West Wind. Taking pity, the west wind hides Unico, but each time Unico helps someone, the gods are alerted to his presence. The film is all about helping others and not only getting what you can from friendship. Like David Banner is the Hulk TV show, Unico can never stick around for long, leaving each story with a sad ending. Unico offers up no easy answers and explores very dark avenues which you might not expect from such a cute little unicorn. There's nothing overly sweet or condescending about this film, just a great sense of honesty and amazing animation. May upset many viewers with its brutal depiction of life and having to move on, but it leaves happy and unforgettable memories, much like the character itself.
