The talented young writer-director Tomasz Wasilewski has an eye for eloquent framing and touches of absurdity, both of which evoke the work of Austrian film-maker Ulrich Seidl. Go to Full Review

Despite aesthetic merit, it's a depressing and emotionally barren film that fails to hold interest. Go to Full Review

Wasilewski has proven to be a skillful drama hopper capable of moving at ease from one character to the other before leaving them all on the verge of unraveling, emotionally united by the uncertain in-betweenness of a new era Go to Full Review

Claudio C Dec 2 Four Women in Poland 12,104 – 02 Dec 2025 In 1990, in Poland, the Catholic Agata is married with a teenage daughter and runs a video store of her own. She does not feel anything for her husband and uses her desire for the local priest to have sex with him. The principal Iza has had a love affair with a doctor for six years. When his wife dies, Iza believes they will be together, but is disappointed and takes a wrong attitude. The veteran teacher Renata is forced to retire. She has a crush on swimming and dancer teacher Marzena. When Marzena poses for a photographer at home, he abuses her. "Zjednoczone stany milosci"(2016) is a Polish Swiss movie about love, affair and sex of four women of different ages in Poland. The story is set in 1990, when the Berlin wall felt. However, the plot is simple, with the lives of the protagonists entwined. The scenes of nude and sex are excessive and unnecessary. My vote is five. See more 02/23/2017 This was a bit of a slog. It started off great with the back drop to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the lust for Western goods (how the video shop was never done for privacy is beyond me) the final act sees that it finishes strongly but in the end a disappointment.
