Dennis Harvey Variety Despite its new thematic wrinkle, the five segments here feel familiar in ideas and unmemorable in execution. It’s a middling addition to a variably inspired anthology brand that will no doubt trundle on through more installments yet. Oct 7, 2024 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com The V/H/S series happily shows no sign of slowing down, and V/H/S/Beyond is as thrilling an entry as any that has come before it. Just don’t plan on going skydiving anytime soon after watching. Rated: 3/4 Oct 7, 2024 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News “V/H/S Beyond” grossed me out, made me laugh and made me jump — and it set a high bar for ensuing entries to jump over. Rated: 3/4 Oct 2, 2024 Full Review Michael Talbot-Haynes Film Threat V/H/S Beyond punches enough buttons to keep the blinking lights on in your skull tonight. Rated: 7.5/10 Dec 5, 2024 Full Review Britt Hayes MovieWeb The latest installment in the found-footage horror series is V/H/S/Beyond, a collection of segments based on aliens and featuring some of the franchise's best and gnarliest special effects to date. Rated: 3.5/5 Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Ian Bunting Daily Record (UK) V/H/S/Beyond is another frighteningly fun entry in the franchise which continues to give a platform to exciting fresh filmmakers. Daniel B Not very creative, each of the short films is basically the same thing of very shaky footage of some alien ripping people apart. If you like that sort of thing, then I guess it will appeal but there's nothing very original. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Brock B Some segments may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but you gotta applaud the imagination and creativity of the writers and directors. Even if it is kinda weird. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Christopher C This movie is one of the worst I've seen in over 30 years of watching films. It lacks scares and has a disjointed narrative, earning it a solid C rating. The plot is nonexistent, jumping randomly from news to unrelated content. I'm baffled by its 3-star review, as it deserves no more than half a star. Watching this movie was a waste of time, and I feel like I lost brain cells in the process. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/25 Full Review Logan G In most VHS installments, there are some good and some bad shorts. Unfortunately, even the better shorts in VHS Beyond fall in the middle of that. The bad ones are just bad Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/25 Full Review gabriel p Just a very stupid and boring movie, this being also the horror part of it Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review Bum D Horrible. As per usual. Yet another terrible movie with glowing reviews by critics. I can’t figure out if we’ve reached such a rough time that people are just pretending to enjoy pure trash in some kind of dystopian toxic positivity ritual or if critics are just paid off at this point. Or maybe people really are dedrater (read that backwards) Or maybe even AI. I donno, all I know is I haven’t seen a decent movie in ages and there’s constantly highly rated garbage on rotten tomatoes that fools me into wasting my time. As usual here I had to turn off the movie before it was over since it was completely boring and stupid. The first entry, “Stork”, felt like watching a crappy reenactment of a multiplayer video game scene. Cheap. Dumb. The second one was a Bollywood style robot short that I felt like I’ve seen a million times already, but this one was extra stupid. The third, “Live and let dive”, started with potential. The idea is pretty good, a skydiving team encounters a hostile UFO… but lo and behold, VHS finds a way to make it utter slop. About a minute of intrigue and then it devolves into the ubiquitous shiddy special effects “OMG A MONSTER! A STUPID LOOKING MONSTER! Run! RUN! Oh, no, we’re dead.” Then onto the next, a doggy day care center one that has nothing to do with aliens at all, although come to think of it none of these really do, anyways GASP the evil doggy daycare lady TURNS PEOPLE INTO DOG CREATURES! Aaaaaand I’m done here. Turned it off at this point. Horrible. Unwatchable. Total waste of time. If ANYONE says a mainstream movie, or streamable movie, or piece of fictional entertainment is good from here on out I’m just gonna go with my gut that it sucks by default. “They” don’t allow anything good nowadays.
