In this raw and raunchy comedy, straight-laced Marcus and Emily (Lil Rel Howery, Yvonne Orji) are befriended by wild, thrill-seeking partiers Ron and Kyla (John Cena, Meredith Hagner) at a resort in Mexico. Living in the moment, the usually level-headed couple lets loose to enjoy a week of uninhibited fun and debauchery with their new "vacation friends." Months after their walk on the wild side, Marcus and Emily are horrified when Ron and Kyla show up uninvited at their wedding, creating chaos and proving that what happens on vacation, doesn't necessarily stay on vacation.

Wenlei Ma News.com.au Vacation Friends is fine. You'll probably never rewatch it and you'll never quote from it, but it's amiable enough to pass some time. Rated: 3/5 Sep 11, 2021 Full Review Brandon Katz Observer Sure, it's a silly R-rated raunchy comedy in which we get both testicle and poop jokes (classic). But it's proudly open hearted and a funny, if absurd, champion of friendship. I can't wait to take my next vacation. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 5, 2021 Full Review Lindsey Bahr Associated Press There's nothing especially revelatory about "Vacation Friends." There are a few genuinely good laughs to be had involving drugs, golf and a catamaran, both during the vacation and the wedding. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 1, 2021 Full Review John Daniel Tangalin The Cinema Spot Vacation Friends is an extremely unusual comedy film. With that said, it does an acceptable job at being one, to say the least. Jul 19, 2025 Full Review Maxance Vincent Film Speak As much as Vacation Friends wants to impress with its talented cast, and comedic situations that Tarver wants you to believe are original and inventive, you can’t help but feel its familiarity permeating the script from the first frame to the last. Rated: D Jul 13, 2025 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...one could certainly do a whole lot worse in terms of a contemporary, post-Apatow comedy. (ENGLISH) Comedies like Vacation Friends don’t aim to reinvent the wheel, but sometimes they achieve the simple goal of making you laugh for a while. This one does, even if not always with the same punch. The film leans on absurd situations and over-the-top characters, which deliver some funny moments, though it also falls into some very familiar clichés. The highlight, without question, is John Cena, who seems to have a natural gift for comedy. His presence lights up every scene and manages to rescue even the weaker jokes. The rest of the cast is solid, but he’s the one who keeps things entertaining when the humor starts to lose steam. The plot does get repetitive at times, with jokes that lose their bite from being overused. The script doesn’t take many risks and often relies on easy exaggerations or sentimentality, which limits the film’s impact. Still, there’s a freshness in the group’s chemistry and in the carefree tone that drives the story. It’s not a memorable comedy or one that will become a cult favorite, but it’s not a disaster either: just a light option to switch off and have some fun. In short, Vacation Friends offers occasional laughs and a John Cena who once again proves he can shine in any role. It won’t make history, but it doesn’t pretend to be more than it is: passing entertainment. Starring John Cena as Ron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/12/25 Full Review Kyle M Though stocked and coerced characteristically in frivolously reinforcing behavioral tropes its plot dynamic, the main cast quartet successfully took it upon themselves to make this comedy enjoyable with sporadically promised laughter. (B) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/03/24 Full Review Travis B I like this one. John Cena really didn't fit the tough guy genre but his comedy talent is just awesome Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/10/24 Full Review Read all reviews
