An accomplished character piece that sustains interest in a conceit nearly as slender as its protagonist. Go to Full Review

Martin B 03/12/2023 I guess Sterling Hayden wanted to play a bad guy and boy did he hit pay dirt. Ekberg's transcendent beauty couldn't save this one. Not much meat on the bone, watching a linear story with so much time devoted to Hayden's character simply being cruel without some kind of complicating twist or paralell story line was painful. The final shootout the perfect ham handed obvious ending to a ham handed movie. See more 09/23/2011 Well, the director is Gerg Oswald not whoever they have listed. That said, this is a fantastic b-Western which I actually prefer to Rashomom which it remakes. Oswald's direction is very dynamic and punchy with an aggressive camera.
