Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Overall, Vanishing on 7th Street was just randomly ridiculous and utterly asinine. Rated: D Sep 9, 2017 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com The movie plays like an Off-Broadway theatrical production still going through rehearsals, the cast and crew trying to wring the kinks out of the material in lieu of opening night. Rated: 2/4 Mar 11, 2011 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News Prediction: Vanishing on 7th St. will vanish from theaters very quickly. Rated: D Mar 4, 2011 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The film gives up after establishing its basic concept and leaves the audience wanting more, a lot more. Rated: 2/4 Aug 3, 2023 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Vanishing takes advantage of the ancestral fear of the dark. Karin F This movie could have been amazing. Stellar cast, great premiss but simply loses its focus and becomes boring. Add to that a truly disappointing ending and it just not worth the watch. I'm sad, coz I thought I'd stumbled upon a little gem on Amazon Prime - sadly it runlrned out to be a waste of 90 minutes 😢 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Phil G I often wonder how films like this get made. It happens so often however that there must be numerous and persistent reasons. Starts with an interesting premise, one that is clearly adapted from other stories —definitely had elements of the 'green bugs' from X-Files, which in turn probably had elements from other historical contexts. But then, in its attempt to explain (or not) the story it just flails around. The religious elements weren't needed, not as much as the myriad forms of lighting the cast could have used —but didn't. It seems the story was waiting for your disbelief to unsuspend before the characters started to do some things more sensibly —by which time it all is too late. Another film that could have been far better —as it had all the elements— but something in the execution failed. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Ash A An interesting idea, but poorly executed. Just lazy directing and poorly drafted script. The actors did their best with very little to work with. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/02/24 Full Review Danger S The director and writer may have tried to make the movie broadly applicable, but it's still basically a Christian allegory, made in the same vapid, superficial way most Christian allegories are. Which is disappointing, because I thought The Machinist was really well done. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Dan D Meh movie that isn't really worth the time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/23 Full Review jelisije j If you want to watch a movie that explains anything about its story throughout its runtime this movie ain't for you.
