spencer p Not as clear or clever as it could have been, but still a good silent film that effectively speaks its gangster/honest man story through its images. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting to see Ozu do a comedy with gangsters, a chase scene, and tracking shots. Some interesting things. 1. The influence of American films. The heroine's office has a poster for MGM's Joan Crawford film Our Dancing Daughters on the wall. The hero has a lifesize poster of Clara Bow boxing on his. 2. Speaking of the hero's wall, the rest of his apartment is covered with boxing posters and doodles, including song lyrics and a bridge game. 3. In Tokyo, when criminals meet they do a little dance routine. This cracked the audience up every time it happened. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews
