Dan J I spent much of my time while watching this light, 78-minute romantic comedy grappling with the possibility that the lives of Muscovites could ever have been so naive and trouble-free. Perhaps the optimism of this film was realistic enough during the Khrushchev years. I didn't get any laughs out of this supposed comedy, but perhaps that's just my incompatibility with the humor of that era. It is certainly a pleasant tour of the city, and the camera work is outstanding. The theme song, the "title track," still has me humming euphorically. The main "flaw" of this movie is that it is absolutely out of touch with Soviet reality, it looks like a fairy-tale; but otherwise the film is very bright and heartwarming.
