Joe Leydon Variety A genially pleasant comedy-drama that is elevated by the sincerity and conviction of actors (especially Olmos) fully invested in their roles. May 7, 2021 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media This head-scratcher of a faith-based dramedy is filled with kind, appealing characters; it's hard not to love them, but the movie is also extremely odd, with awkward rhythms and puzzling choices. Rated: 2/5 May 14, 2021 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com As Herb, George Lopez has one of his best roles in quite some time. Rob M There was a lot of potential in this faith-based story, but the awkward storytelling inhibits the viewer from totally buying in. Ultimately, questions about loss and death get swallowed up in a light hearted tale of an old guy being told by God to win a golf tournament. The actual deaths, loss and anger at God unfold way too rapidly at the beginning of the film with barely a nod to character development. Messages from God are delivered in little scrolls delivered via computer and little animal-delivered scrolls. And suddenly we're practicing golf under the tutelage of an amiable angel, played serviceably by George Lopez. The moral, messages, and admirable characters of Walking with Herb earn it the three stars, but the awkward editing and delivery leave it somewhat unsatisfying. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/05/25 Full Review Glenda H One of the best movies in a long time. Not overdone with message just constant throughout. Acting above average and great story. Keeps you involved and interested whole movie with surprise ending. Love it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/13/24 Full Review brian h Excellent acting by an all star cast and a heart-warming story equals a perfect evening of entertainment. A story well told. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Heartwarming and improbably authentic movie with plenty of laughs and smiles. Not for those that might be ‘triggered’ by a message of faith in a higher power. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/22 Full Review Audience Member It was good overall as a nice faith-based movie with a nice story & characters including George Lopez as his guardian angel. It was a pleasant movie to enjoy, but did leave some gaps in the story of how he rebuilt his faith after incidents that happened to his family members. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review scott w I loved this movie it was fun and upbeat with a great message Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
