Nyjah R Do I really need to explain myself? Like, come on, this is The Wrong Trousers were talking about. This film takes every single right thing about Grand Day Out (which is pretty much everything) and then adds more perfections with being able to preform certain things that people want, like a Sonic movie franchise type of deal. I'm glad this was made, because we probably wouldn't have Vengeance Most Foul without our favorite criminal master mind penguin (nun? Chicken? After watching the new W&G film, I thought it would be best to revisit the prequel to that film. The Wrong Trousers could be easily seen as the best Wallace & Gromit production in the entire series (and you can’t blame anyone who would sight this as their opinion). This short film emphasizes and maximizes the hilarity and charm of the series, while also being genuinely thrilling and engaging! You got a great story, the iconic British humour here, and a hilariously over the top villain plot line. Also, one of the greatest (if not, the greatest) claymation sequence in history. That toy train chase is the stuff of legends and magic, and I just love the fact that Aardman was able to make genius work like this during that time. This series really pushed the envelope as to what could be possible for claymation films, while also showing they could be genuine fun and having the quality of a legit big budget film. Kinda wish they spliced this short before the new feature as kind of a double feature, but I digress, watching this again brought back great memories! Excellent and legendary! Other than that there is a reason to why the Wrong Trousers is such as timeless classic that comprised of a well structured, fun and intriguing story. The breakfast making machine, the inventions going haywire and a villainous penguin that dresses like a chicken. There are a whole ton of visual gags throughout the short. Just about every frame of the whole thing has a joke in it. Here in this short is where the dynamic between Wallace and Gromit is fully ironed out. Wallace is the well-meaning all be it a little ignorant leader that gets the two into trouble. And Gromit is the silent voice of reason, who comes to the rescue when things get out of hand. There are just a couple of tired plot points at the beginning of the story that I didn't care for. But those story beats pass by fairly quickly and then we get onto some great jokes. The short is a very important piece of animation history. But beyond its historical impact, the movie is just fun to watch. The short is full of charm, energy and humor. The Wrong Trousers has the right stuff.
