What to Know

Critics Consensus

It's decidedly uneven -- and surprisingly sappy for an early Adam Sandler comedy -- but The Wedding Singer is also sweet, funny, and beguiling.

Blu B A Classic Rom Com and Adam Sandler's Best Early Years Flick. Good cinematography with lots of memorable scenes. Everything else really is strong here. Drew & Adam Sandler's chemistry is phenominal in this and easily the best scenes are when they are together. Sandler as the down on his luck nobody special wedding singer is really good here. The absurd humor is very minimal here (though it is here and suprisngly works well probably because of there isn't a lot), the fact he actually plays a character with more emotions than just being angry, stupid and naive, and it feels like there is a actual grounded story here. Granted it is very predictable the entire way but it's so well done it really doesn't matter. The humor overall hits really good here and besides Happy Gilmore this is probably his funniest film humor wise. While not as quotable or absurdly memorable as other flicks of his it's easily one of his best for how well it executes it simple predictable but funny, charming, and sincere story. Anyone who is a fan of any actors in this, the director, comedies, or romance should check this out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/24 Full Review Faiz D Although I love Drew Barrymore, but this was a below average film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/23/24 Full Review Max W The Wedding Singer tones down Adam Sandler's typically over-the-top comedic style and instead showcases his abilities as both an actor and singer, creating a sincere and entertaining romantic comedy.
