A twisted exercise in narcissism... Go to Full Review

The movie is closer to a video opinion essay than an examination of an issue... What Is A Woman? is utterly devoid of curiosity or generosity. It’s fueled by anger and fear, and partisan calculation. Walsh poses like a wise man, but he’s a cyberbully. Go to Full Review

Yes, viewers will need to contend with Matt Walsh’s agenda, but he does a solid job of presenting various angles from which to discuss the myriad debates rocking our culture right now. Go to Full Review

A film made to sermonize to the already converted, those already primed to see the simple existence of trans people as worthy of laughter and contempt rather than curiosity or empathy, then hand them weapons in the form of lazy disinformation and hate. Go to Full Review
Brett McCracken The Gospel Coalition 06/11/2022
The film is strongest when it isn’t poking fun at trans activists or making them squirm with gotcha questions, but rather when trans skeptics are given the chance to speak—something too few platforms are willing to do today. Go to Full Review

...the film takes a decidedly Roger & Me approach to answering its titular question, finding the answer as elusive as Moore did General Motors CEO Roger Smith. Go to Full Review

Assaf D @Assafdm 6d This film does at times cross the threshold for being transphobic, and is strictly anecdotal and positionist. But if we ignore that its a very important film for every liberal who feels that his thoughts are being dictated when it comes to gender subjects. I think this film targets many substantial issues that are being swept under the rug by PC culture or worse - for financial gain. Even if its not gonna change your mind - i believe this is a must for everyone who wish to think freely. See more Jeremy B Nov 6 Never heard of Matt Walsh until now but I'm glad I know now! If you are a fan of Borat, you will LOVE this movie! See more Jace T @CineChamber Sep 28 This is a film that was made for a certain demographic of people, and you can clearly tell from the reviews here. It is completely political, and will only appeal or not appeal to peoples biases. The film is competent, but they do not pick competent people to interview. They slant their bias fully in their direction, and straw man the opposing opinion instead of strong man it. I think the goofiest part of this film is that it actually does not answer the question the title of the film asks. What is a woman? Not even Matt Walsh's wife at the end of the movie can give a good definition, and just end the film with a joke. So yes, this is a dark comedy, because it is a film trying to be truth telling that has no truth to portray. See more Mary S Aug 29 Laughable (not in a good way). It's frankly disingenuous at best. At best. See more Niko H Jun 17 These topics need to be talked about more. Why cancel conversation ? If you believe so strongly then you shouldn’t be scared to talk about it. See more Roofus S Apr 27 Matt Walsh’s What is a Woman? is less a documentary and more a portrait of a deeply unhappy man asking the wrong questions to the wrong people. Instead of seeking genuine understanding, Walsh trudges through interviews with a scowl, desperate for validation he never quite finds. His dour, joyless outlook overshadows any real dialogue or connection. Honestly, Matt seems like he’d be much happier leading a pack of golden retrievers through a sunny park than confronting strangers about gender. A career as a professional dog walker could bring him the joy, humility, and sense of purpose this film — and he — so sorely lacks. See more Read all reviews
