Late R The mystery, set in the past, is not too riveting in and of itself, nor is it particularly well-handled in the script. Most of the film doesn't deal with that, however, but focuses on the present and the people trying to solve it. This is where the film does some good work, but not in the way that you might think. 'When You No Longer Love Me' is technically a murder mystery by description, but it approaches things as if it were a drama with a little thriller and romance thrown in. So the burden of keeping things interesting falls to the characters -- thankfully, our main trio is just that. The dynamic between the three wildly different personalities works well, particularly when it comes to the relationship between Florencia Torrente and Eduardo Blanco's characters. The resolution is, again, a bit non-sensical and could have been handled better, but by the time it comes around, it almost doesn't matter. Rated 3/5 Stars •  Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/22 Full Review Audience Member What an amazing find of a film. I saw this on a United flight from the UK to the US, and it just blew me away. It was a bit like an Almodovar movie, but from his serious phase with the action centering around a Argentine woman who suddenly discovers that her (original) father's body has been discovered in a wood in the Basque part of Spain. She decides to take her step-father (her mother had left Spain in a hurry and emigrated to Argentina) with her, and try and find out what happened. And from there the story unfolds, with plenty of twists and turns and some beautiful scenery and great acting. A standout for me was the musical score, which was layered, haunting and I would just love to find it on CD or for download, but so far no luck!
