Critics Consensus

Whistle doesn't blow it when it comes to milking some memorable frights from its nifty conceit, although this horror flick could've dared to be more original beyond its main hook.

This generic supernatural slasher is perhaps too reflexive for its own good, but Dafne Keen and Sophie Nélisse's tentative queer romance adds some freshness. Go to Full Review

There was room to do something ridiculous here – it bears repeating: this is a film about a killer whistle. Why is it taking itself so seriously? Go to Full Review

Considering how much more could have been done with its basic idea, it's impossible not to feel a little disappointed. If they do make a sequel, I hope Hardy and his team learn from their mistakes. [Full review in Spanish]. Go to Full Review

If you’re steeped in ’90s horror, you know exactly where this is heading, and Whistle takes you there while delivering both unhinged kills and a Gen Z emotional sensibility that gives the characters real weight. Go to Full Review

Arguably similar to a wide variety of thematically comparable films, Whistle plays its own tune well enough, harmonizing angsty YA characterizations with moody ambience, gruesome violence, and committed performances... Go to Full Review

aimee Mar 4 Whistle Movie 🎬 Review While I did enjoy this film... They came close to blowing it.. something was missing for me... I wanted to like it more. A new misfit high school student stumbles upon a cursed object in her locker. She ends up accidentally sharing it with a detention group and finds out it's an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover the mind blowing truth behind the mystery Whistle and whoever hears it's call has their own death creeping up on them bringing their own downfall. The acting was great.. some overall cool kills in the same vein as freddy killings in the dreams sequences and seeing it in reality.. The cursed object is a well worn trope in horror movies. But I had fun. And it was well done. P.S. stay for the post credits 😉 3.5/5 See more Anthony R Feb 15 It's ok! It's a mix of Final Destination, Talk to Me, and Smile. See more Mr Hollywood Feb 13 Even with the premise that your future self is coming to get you, it’s standard teen horror film. Follows the same story beats. Couple death scenes are good but overall a waste of time See more HarhMoney Feb 12 Good gore. Interesting characters. And Dafne Keen in full goth mode. See more NW Feb 12 Great movie! Plot was solid and the deaths were vivid. Everything you want in a good horror film! See more richard f Feb 11 Except for the premonition, this the exact plot of Final Destination. I guess kids from 13-20 will love it. Everyone else....Meh.... See more Read all reviews
