06/20/2021 I watched it when it first aired, and more than a dozen times since. It had a great cast. It had stories within stories. I still think it as Anne of Green Gables on heroin. Sometimes you really don't need zombies, phasers or spaceships. A lot of the time, you just need a doctor in a strange environment and circumstance (a nod to Doctor in a blue box). In short, this movie was wonderful. See more 03/11/2020 Strange and compelling sci-fi epic that while a little over the top in over-selling it's themes; still holds up to a 25 year rewatch. See more 10/16/2019 Rather brilliant movie with the two sides of the planet not only having different cultures but different tech, and you also get a late 19th to early 20th century to 1940s feel about Driscoll along with some fantasy elements. See more 08/19/2012 Earth doctor is assigned to a remote planet in civil war for his internship in the year 3040. I was troubled, with good reason, by the box description likening it to 'a sci-fi Northern Exposure'. Actually a tv pilot, which may explain certain plot elements not being fully explored.
