In Quebec, tribal leader Eddy Laroche (Donald Morin) declares that his people are rebelling against the state, and that his Aki territory is now an independent nation. With the government wanting to negotiate, Laroche insists upon ample TV coverage, so reporter Jean Fontaine (Guy Nadon) is sent up the river alongside government officials. Originally indifferent toward his assignment, Fontaine soon discovers the story is far darker than he had anticipated, and his journalistic ethics are tested.
