See more 08/23/2011 this may come out wrong, but for a film about gulag camps in siberia, this film is too good to be true. great performance by emily watson, as always. but mixing poetry with harsh times is definatelly not everyone's cup of tea. feels very sugar-coated at times. See more 07/17/2011 This movie is well-made, has a very good leading actress, a good soundtrack and it's full of meaning. But it hasn't convinced me too much. The story was just too poor maybe. It's like all the other films that show the shoah. They are sad, they are important because they make you think and remember, but in the end they just push on the feelings topic.
