Cork B super teeny bopper version of the werewolf story. A teen wolf update that takes itself seriously maybe. The intro and build up are decent. The makeup is good for practical effects, but ultimately the full wolf fur made me laugh a bit since they kind of looked like dogs and not really at all threatening. Momoa looked more threatening in human form with the contact lenses. Anyway, you kind of know how this thing is going to play out, but the ending suffered from too much throwing each other around. I think the wolves would have been more threatening had the violence been in shorter deadlier bursts, and maybe even more in the shadows. The teeny bopper melodrama was what you would expect from a twilight rip off, if you like that sort of thing. They tried to do some character arc stuff with Momoa right at the end, and it just plain didn't get enough build out. It's a werewolf thriller that has no bite (no pun intended) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review jelisije j A guilty pleasure dum tv budget werewolf movie that would've been better as a TV show. Dennis Harvey Variety While it's a painless watch, "Wolves" looks comparatively bland as an adolescent male answer to Canada's last notable bigscreen werewolf effort, the femme-focused "Ginger Snaps" franchise. Nov 16, 2014 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Swoopy-haired star Lucas Till makes for a credible young western-style hero, but even he's upended by the often silly, inconsistent story. Nov 14, 2014 Full Review Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com The kind of pleasantly eccentric werewolf coming-of-age story that should be seen as the third-billed title in a horror movie marathon. When viewed on its own, one can't help but wonder who "Wolves"' was made for. Rated: 2/4 Nov 14, 2014 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse There aren't a lot of surprises, but the all-important transformation scenes are furry fun and any horror film with Stephen McHattie is worth a look. Rated: 2.5/5 Feb 2, 2021 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue There's modest fun to be had in this campy low-budget horror flick that ultimately doesn't have much bite. Dec 31, 2014 Full Review Sandie Angulo Chen Common Sense Media Forgettable werewolf flick is soapy and occasionally gory. Rated: 1/5 Nov 24, 2014 Full Review Read all reviews
