Alissa Wilkinson Vox [Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music] is an outstanding documentary, a joyful musical experience and a playful artifact of an era, even at its butt-busting length. Aug 21, 2019 Full Review Nell Minow Movie Mom Rated: 4/5 Apr 15, 2005 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Few documentaries have captured a time and place more completely, poignantly, and for that matter, entertainingly. Rated: 4/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand It’s the music that everyone remembers and the film is a time capsule of pop music and youth culture of the era. Jan 7, 2023 Full Review Harvey G. Cox Tempo (National Council of Churches) What makes the movie of Woodstock a delight to watch is that it had a great subject matter to begin with: the largest crowd of human beings ever assembled in one place in the recorded history of man. Leaburn O This film was good 👍🏼 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review KEVIN C Documentary chronicling the groundbreaking event of the sixties Woodstock. And by the looks of it, it really lived up to the moniker of 3 days of peace and music. From the rudimentary building of the stage in the middle of a field to the opening performance of Richie Havens to the closing moments and poof Jimi Hendrix. Despite the mass of humanity, it proved to be a successful event with very little controversy. A great look back at the music and attitude of the love generation. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/22 Full Review dave s Whether it's the original version or the lengthier Director's Cut (which clocks in at just under four hours), Woodstock is a film that needs to be seen by lovers of documentaries and/or lovers of music and/or lovers of the 60's culture. The music, especially in the extended version, is top-notch throughout, featuring stellar performances from Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and The Who, among others, including a touching performance from John Sebastian. But what makes the film so wonderful is the candid footage of the concert-goers, content to withstand the elements in order to embrace three days of love, community, and music. It's an important historical film for those not old enough to remember the turbulent times of social change and a meaningful piece of nostalgia for those fortunate enough to remember the era. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Alvin Lee and Ten Years After, Santana, Richie Havens, Joe Cocker, Jimi, 1234 what are we fighting for. I wasn't there but this movie does a great job of taking you there. Don't eat the brown acid. Rock On. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member What can you say about this classic that hasn't been said. The definitive documentary and concert film about the historical Woodstock Concert. Even if you don't love the music you have to appreciate the historical significance of this film and the underlying event. Personally, I would rather watch this film than have been among that chaos of filth, drugs, and lack of food. Or maybe not. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Not particularly my style of music so I was sceptical going in but I got so caught up in this movie, it captures a moment in time better than almost anything I can remember seeing, and some of the music genuinely is great whatever your preference. Also thought I'd struggle far more with the intimidating runtime than I did, just wasn't an issue at all. Outstanding all round. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
