David Sims The Atlantic It is especially impressive that Days of Future Past is a success; a film this gooey and complex, with such business-minded scope, should not feel like a real movie at all. Sep 22, 2016 Full Review Katey Rich Vanity Fair In an age when more and more movies just feel like stepping-stones toward the next, bigger things, is it so much to ask that it be a good movie all on its own? Jul 13, 2015 Full Review David Stratton At the Movies (Australia) I guess I am a sucker for these sort of time travel films, travelling back in time to change the course of history. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 2, 2015 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film While more action would of been ideal, there are some great character moments here that this franchise is known for. Rated: A- Aug 19, 2024 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Effectively united some of the elements that X-Men fans had been waiting years to see, though doesn't quite due justice to the source material and squanders the good will of what X-Men: First Class earned the series. Rated: 4/5 Sep 20, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies It’s start is a bit jarring, the future Sentinels look pretty generic, and I could list a few other nitpicks. But in terms of story, storytelling, and sheer entertainment, the movie scores where it counts. Rated: 4/5 Aug 20, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/25 Full Review Mate P X-Men: Days of the Future Past is probably my absolute favourite X-Men film. Most of the characters are already established and they are very well-used. The new characters are also great. The enemies are not completely stupid or evil. There is at least some sense to what they are doing. Overall the stakes are very high, but they managed to balance the serious and funny moments really well. There are also great little twists that I love. At first I didn't like how it ended, but having sit on it for some time, I'm completely positive about it now. The direction and the cinematography are the best they've ever been in the franchise. This is Bryan Singer's finest work I've seen. The editing is out of this world for a superhero movie. It doesn't have the right to be as good as it is. The visual parallels between the timelines are so cool. The visual effects are beyond amazing too. The stuff with Peter is mind-blowing. The cast is close to being as enormous as any Avengers movie. The performances are superb even though not many actors got enough time to shine. This time there wasn't a single performance I thought was cheesy or weird. X-Men: Days of the Future Past has no right to be this good, although I don't get the post credit scene. It teases the next film, but after this film the audience can't connect it to anything. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/26/25 Full Review J H As much as I hated this - and believe me, I HATED it - watching it was less painful than recovering from surgical kidney removal. "retcon" is just another way to say "lazy film making". Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/16/25 Full Review Read all reviews
