Wesley Morris Boston Globe Rated: 3/4 Nov 24, 2011 Full Review Eric Henderson Slant Magazine In the film's spare running time, director Eytan Fox strips away almost anything that doesn't present a dichotomy of conflict. Rated: 3/4 Apr 5, 2004 Full Review John Monaghan Detroit Free Press It's too lean to deserve marquee billing. Rated: 2/4 Mar 19, 2004 Full Review Dan Avery Out Magazine Featuring sincere performances and a stark, almost haunting, backdrop, the film avoids stereotypes and political posturing to capture the fragility of life when death is an ever-present possibility. May 26, 2022 Full Review Shannon Kelley The Advocate While it's easy to forget that these characters stand at the crossroads of global unrest, Fox's feature succeeds as a lyrical and disarmingly tender observation of love in war. Apr 20, 2022 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Modest to a fault, this is no more than an anecodte about gay love within the Israeli military, but it has plenty of charm and establishes Ethan Fox as a talented filmmaker to watch. andy n the movie is not bad, and touching, and realistic... but as if something is missing.... Somehow the final suffering of the protagonist is not very noticeable... And some finale is unfinished! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Given what is currently available in this genre ...this movie is AWFUL by comparison!!! Boring and meaningless dialogue, uninteresting characters, poor production values and terrible acting. Are we supposed to believe they are in a war zone? ...seems more like a paintball park. Perhaps this passed as "good" 20 years ago, but this has to be one of the worst films I viewed. The only thing more shocking than the praise given to this film; is that they made a sequel. NO THANKS!! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review david l Although perhaps minimalist to a fault, especially in its ridiculously short runtime, Yossi & Jagger developed its central romance so well that the final act was deeply heartfelt as a result. The direction is strong, the movie is very sweet in a couple of scenes and the acting is excellent with Ohad Knoller in particular delivering stellar work. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Of course it had to end that way hadn't it?Quite good, never powerful enough. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie will always capture my heart. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member So good. And so sad...
