It is somewhat like The Witch, but even slower paced and much more artistic. If you go in with the expectation of this as a typical horror movie, there's a decent chance you will come away disappointed. This movie relies on an interesting twist to the witch trope to speak powerfully about the sorrow of death, the inequality of life, the bond of motherhood, and the joy life can bring. I was fascinated by the entire film, but my only real critique is that it would have benefitted from a few more "horror" scenes to help break apart the slow pace.
