Critics Consensus

Although it may strike some as too artsy for its own good, You Won't Be Alone puts a thoughtfully fresh spin on familiar horror tropes.

David Stratton The Australian I’m sorry to be so down on this film because it’s undeniably original and in a way daring in that it doesn’t follow the usual path of movies about witches and shape shifting. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 23, 2022 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) An ambitious, sometimes powerful, often murkily pretentious first feature from Australian writer-director Goran Stolevski, shot in the mountains of Serbia with an international cast. Rated: 3/5 Sep 22, 2022 Full Review Luke Buckmaster Guardian A shockingly great horror movie that cleverly differentiates itself from umpteen other productions involving witches and forests visited by the damned. Rated: 5/5 Sep 21, 2022 Full Review William Stottor Loud and Clear Reviews The mesmerising, rustic and sometimes darkly comic You Won’t Be Alone impressively deals in both grotesque gore and Malickian philosophical grandeur. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 13, 2024 Full Review Zach Pope Zach Pope Reviews I LOVED moments of this I cherished others But I felt nothing while watching it emotionally An excellent concept that became a bit Repetitive as it went on with its runtime. Jul 25, 2023 Full Review Hector A. Gonzalez InSession Film The ending is not as strong as one might want it to be, yet I feel that the rest of the picture has enough interesting ideas and horrific beauty to warrant multiple viewings to capture its plentiful metaphors. angie y Incredibly beautiful and horrifying. The acting is top notch, reminding me of poor things if you’d like our house and beautiful cinematography this is for you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/16/24 Full Review D W I’m someone who absolutely can NOT stand to see babies harmed/killed and although there are a few scenes where the babies/children were hurt they all ultimately survive and because of that I was able to enjoy the movie thoroughly. It’s very good, very unlike anything else. 100 percent I recommend! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/24 Full Review Reagan R This film feels singular or at least very rare in how it tells a story. The violence and beauty of nature and society meet with every scene of this film. Whether a witch is drinking blood or a husband beating his wife, the same mix of unease and quiet acceptance settles over you. The messages and themes feel so innate and familiar that putting them into words is difficult. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Audience Member Se pudesse dar mais estrelas, eu dava. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/08/24 Full Review Jacques V I was transported to the original world of Grimm's Brothers folk tales with all of it's violence and horror before such stories became sanitized and Disneyfied. I was literally in another era. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Anna K I thought it would be interesting folk horror cinema. Instead it was repetitive pretentious fantasy art. I'd suggest recommend it to your wiccan friends, but they may expect more humor. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Read all reviews
