TheSerendipia I wish the female character was in more in control, power dynamic was off. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie normalizes couples violence as something "cute" because they love each other. Added to being very irreal and bad performances. I was very disappointed (and I've seen plenty of Mexican Movies) Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member A funny but intense film with amazing performances and strong dialogues. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member ~December 30, 2017~ Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/31/17 Full Review Audience Member Very mixed feelings about this film. Great acting and excellent storytelling. However, it ultimately feels less like a romantic comedy than a male fantasy of subjugation and eroticism. The talented, beautiful female lead can't get herself out of a relationship she doesn't seem to really want, and the male lead doesn't hesitate to use physical means to keep her in it. All of the male lead's cuteness couldn't keep me from feeling uncomfortable and saddened by it all. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member very great Spanish movie. very damn fun funny movie. great actors and actress. the sex parts were just awesome. it's a must have movie. Matthew Lickona San Diego Reader It might have helped if director Roberto Sneider had let his female lead be something more than the pretty thing doing the figurative killing mentioned in the title. Rated: 1/5 Feb 24, 2017 Full Review Randy Cordova Arizona Republic Both characters are wildly flawed, and you can feel your sympathies shift during their knock-down, drag-out fights. Rated: 4/5 Feb 24, 2017 Full Review Leah Pickett Chicago Reader [An] engaging film, exploring the link between honesty and intimacy. Feb 23, 2017 Full Review Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review I don't get many opportunities to watch García Bernal act, so Susana feels like a stroll through an acting class that he's teaching. It's not entirely fulfilling, but it's a nice greatest hits collection, and I'll take it. May 4, 2020 Full Review Jacob Oller Film School Rejects This is a simple movie directed simply and it's best when it doesn't try to swing above its weight class. Aug 27, 2018 Full Review Alberto Luchini El Mundo (Spain) The comedic view of Gael Gacia Bernal, the elegant sensuality of Vernica Echegui, the beautiful snowy landscapes and a powerful soundtrack add up to a film that dignifies the genre of romantic comedy as much as it can.
