Highly enjoyable. Though YUA is often a comedy, the series gets serious here but the characters never lose their personality or humanity.

The series was all about the direction and how it set the mood right, be it for suspense or romance. The movie had less of the mood setting stuff, but was pretty good look at "What happened after the end" for the first season.
The comic relief was not as good as expected and the cheesy stuff had a bit of mayonnaise in it. However, the overall plot and the way the events unfold are very interesting. The end is also very satisfying.
The music as always is top notch, It does a perfect job like Kow Otani's did for the original series(even did SOTC OST). The sound design with the audio distribution and ambiance was excellent. Worth watching on DVD with Surround sound.
Wont mean much to people who never followed the series, should be an OK time-pass movie for others.

Not bad at all. Not spectacular, but certainly in no way one of the bad anime movies out there. (Let alone one of the bad ones connected to a fuller series.) A fun story with more complexity going for it than the show itself usually does, while retaining the overall feel of a more intense long episode of the show. Not in the same league as Mamoru Oshii's Patlabor movies, those being the top of the line for anime cop movies and stories in general. But regardless, the You're Under Arrest movie is fun and worth seeing. No doubt enjoyable enough with no background for the characters and ongoing story, but no doubt a far better experience if you're already familiar with - and have spent a great deal of time - with these characters.
