roman l - Mihin hän kuoli? - Viina... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a typical dark comedy. It's very Finnish, and it's more of a drama than a comedy. Zombie - a drunken bassplayer, is quite a looser. He's a good man, nice and he tries his best. Life gives him some lemons but he has a hard time dealing with them. Booze and more booze, wrong jobs, failed gigs, girl issues. He gives up everything and does not seem to care about anything. He just want's to drift away in a haze scented with vodka. Not a very original film and I never care much about the film even if I got some sort of sympathy for the man. The only film I've seen from Mika Kaurismäki and I can't say that this film was as good as his brother, Aki's films. It's cool to see Matti Pellonpää here by the way - the man from many of Aki's films. I dug the ending, that's a plus. 5.5 out of 10 guitars. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Depressive but really interesting! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Mika Kaurismaki's film appears to share many of the traits of his brother Aki's great films. Zombie is a directionless drifter whose only skill is bass guitar and who only lives for alcohol and his girl, Marjo. What starts off as a bit of a deadpan loser comedy, gradually darkens in tone to become a rather moving portrait of a alcoholism and despair. Clearly, its not as peculiarly uplifting as much of younger brother Aki's films, but Mikas film has perhaps a more lively energy, even when the tone is dark. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Jotenkin vaan niin lyömättömän hauska ja kuitenkin myös surullinen. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Ahhh... yksi Mika hienoimmista leffoista! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
