64% 14 Reviews Tomatometer 81% 50+ Ratings Audience Score Status seems to be everything in Los Angeles, and two millennials from differing backgrounds strike up a platonic male-female friendship as they seek to navigate the streets of L.A. These two best friends, Esther and Benji, try to navigate the vanity of the city while watching each other's backs but also calling each other out for nonsense. Karey Burke, Freeform's executive vice president of programming and development, said, "Our audience will quickly fall in love, as we did with real-life best friends Esther and Benji, who navigate a world of perfect 10s as self-proclaimed 6s." What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Esther Povistky and Benji Alflalo's awkward charms and convincingly platonic chemistry work, though Alone Together's lack of urgency keeps its nihilistic tenderness from truly jelling.

Jun 24, 2021 Full Review David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle "Alone Together" skates very close to being too annoying, but never loses its appeal, because of the writing, of course, but also because Povitsky and Aflalo are fully credible at all times.... May 31, 2018 Full Review Allison Shoemaker Consequence The second this relationship got well and truly complicated, it would be a parade of dysfunction. It's not a will-they-or-won't-they, it's a they-won't-and-thank-god. Previous andy p This isn't an objective review. I just binge-watched the first two seasons, and it was adorkable. I thought I would hate a show like this, but who can hate Esther? She is the best...and the grossest. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member So funny and relatable. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It was hilarious, fresh, and ahead of its time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It's really funny but aimless. If you're looking for a strong plot or admirable characters, this isn't a show for you. It's about self aware narcissistic and directionless millenial dumpster people (pretty sure they decribed themselves as that). It has some really sharp and quick witted comedy Most episode plots feels more like a general idea to have comedic dialogue and almost an impromptu feel to everything. I really enjoyed the banter between Benji and Esther. But I can see why other people don't like it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The creators (Lonely Island) are fluent in comedy and I do like Esther. Benji plays everything so flat it often misses but have had some good laughs while watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is the first Rotten Tomatoes review I've ever written. I'm not one to write reviews, but I had to stand up for this show. I loovvveeddd this show. It's subtly hilarious, dealing with the often ridiculous issues that millennials face. It's a show that makes it fun to laugh at yourself, your friends, and/or the pressures of society. It reminds me of a Curb Your Enthusiasm for young people. I hope a streaming network picks this gem up! It's a shame to let this show end after two seasons just because it didn't have the correct age-appropriate target audience on Freeform.
