Dan C @Cinema_fan_4589 Mar 27 I think many people that read the Foundation series thought it would be almost impossible to adapt it to TV. I have to say I am gladly surprised that somebody was able to do it. Not only they did it but they excelled at it. At the beginning I had my doubts about the Cleon Dynasty in season 1 while I understood that it was a way to give it continuity and avoid the confusion of having different protagonists at different times, but it finally paid off in season 2. Gall and Salvor become incredibly irritating, especially when on screen together. At some level, the ideas of Azimov still shine through, redeeming the poor writing and clichéd girl-bosses. Other than Lee Pace and the occasional poise from Jared Harris the acting is really poor; not sure if its the casting or the writing that's the main reason but if you manage to make it to Season 2 you'll be wishing for the death of most of the main characters. Everything else, however, has gone from mediocre to flat-out awful. The writing is messy, the story continues to butcher Isaac Asimov’s brilliant source material, and the lead female’s acting remains unconvincing. While the budget is clearly on the screen, no amount of pretty CGI can save the weak casting and hollow dialogue. Unless you’re a die-hard Pace fan, this is a skip.
