Steve H If season 1 was messed up, season 2 is even worse. A complete dog's dinner. Having been forced to invent entirely new storylines to keep Harris and Pace around, they do the same thing with Gaal Dornick and Salvor Hardin. The irony is how many times an actor quotes "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent" before they get into a massive fight. This is Asimov meets Section 31. The beauty of Asimov's plots was the non-violence. But I guess producers think that no-one will watch cerebral TV these days. If only Christopher Nolan had produced and directed this... I loved the expanse of the original books but this show is able to incorporate aspects from future books well into the foundational events of the show. With the scope of events in Foundation and Earth, none of this stuff is excessive in my humble opinion. The refocus onto character, and using them as a vehicle to view the great expanse of time covered I think makes this a fantastic adaption, if not completely faithful. It’s as if the writers were continually asking, “Do you know what would be cool if we did next?” I think the core issue is that we are not made to care about any of the characters. And no amount of dramatic music or CGI can fix that. This is a failure of the writing more so than the actors. The genetic dynasty on Trantor was fascinating in the first season while the story on Terminus was a slog to get through. I am four episodes into this second season and it is all slog. Cool visuals.
